Clarity and extensibility are a one-two knockout punch for a successful sales kickoff.
Originally a flash storage company, Kaminario transformed its business model in 2018 and repositioned itself as the industry leader in B2B composable, software-based cloud storage. With this paradigm shift and the company’s continued success, they wanted to keep their sales team aligned, engaged and enthusiastic in preparation for 2019. The company approached us for help in branding the kickoff meeting using a boxing analogy to represent a competitive sales staff. They needed impactful visuals for Powerpoint pitch decks, a desktop flipbook, an updated corporate brochure and a video.
Boxing is a gritty, intense sport, and has a reputation for highly disciplined, focused athletes. By juxtaposing the brand’s colors and typography with grainy, high-contrast black and white images, we sought to convey a powerful mood. Capitalizing on this aesthetic, Kaminario engaged us to update their wire-bound desktop reference flipbook and also to translate its visuals from a narrow, vertical format to a 16:9 Powerpoint. Driving home the idea that Kaminario is #1, we created a cigar band that looks like a championship belt to hold the book closed.
Carrying the boxing theme further, we created an animated video highlighting the company’s recent successes and future goals. By syncing the song’s rhythm with on-screen animations, we matched the intensity of the event theme and created captivating transitions that underscored the content.
The sales team left the kickoff event with a new resolve to carry the company forward. 2018 was a great year for Kaminario, and 2019 is shaping up in a similar way. By conveying a disciplined, focused mood, we showed Kaminario’s institutional value and made it clear that the company is ready to compete on a global scale. With our extensible approach, the updated flipbook is a desktop mainstay in Kaminario’s sales department, and its imagery is a daily reminder of the company’s values.
